What would you change about the world?

When being asked this question, people can come up with different ideas of things to change. From gender inequality to education for everyone and access to water, the world is in dire need of improvement. So we have asked our volunteers to know what they would personally change and we have created this list:

1. Burak, 19, Turkey. I would change people’s prejudices. That’s the worst thing in this world for me.

2. Clémence, 19, France. If I could, I would change a lot in this planet. The essential thing would be to replace hatred with love and empathy for a more benevolent world, in peace, justice and equity.

3. Maeve, 23, France. If I could change something in the world, it would be the mentalities about the climate emergency. I think it is the main problem in the world, because pollution and environmental problems have consequences on different things like world hunger, lack of drinkable water or climate deregulation. So, the first thing we need to do before it is too late is to change the mentalities of citizens and especially young people. It is they (and us) who will change the world.

4. Samanta, 26, Lithuania. I would erase racism from Earth, because people hold strong opinions that are close-minded about other cultures, and I would change the world by educating people to be more accepting of others.

5. Rachel, 22, France. If I could change anything in the world, I would eradicate people’s selfishness. If selfish people loved others as much as they love themselves, we would achieve great things in a spirit of sharing. It only takes a small gesture, like a smile, to change someone’s day . Its important to do good around you and not be too focused on yourself. Selfishness and indifference are qualities that can spoil a person. You need to know how to show empathy and tolerance, know how to put yourself in the place of others, how to give without return. If everyone was more generous, we ought to change the individualistic society we live in. A smile can change a day, a person can change the world. It is enough to open up to others and to the world.

6. Jena, 24, France. I would change the inequality and the living conditions of every single person because I think it it not normal in our world that there are people who are starving while others do not know what to do with their money.
