The municipality of Velo has a population of  8211 residents, while during the summer the population    nearly doubles its amount and approaches almost the figure of 16,000 residents. The population in Velo presents a dynamic increase  with 12.91% over the last decade. The municipality of Velo consists of municipal beach apartments (Kokkonis and Nerantzis), lowlands (Velo, Fountains, Poulitsa, Tarsina) and sub-mountains (Stimagka, Ellinochori).

It lies 18 km west of Corinth. It stretches south to the limits of the municipality Nemea, west to the Asopos river and the Sykionion municipality, to the north is bordered by the
Corinthian Gulf and  to the east by the Vocha municipality.
From the City Velo passes the Old and the New National Road Korinthos - Patras and the suburban railway.
The main occupation of the inhabitants in this region is agriculture. Most of the agricultural workers produce sultanas and other ,and also it is important the production of wine. They also cultivate citrus and various fruit such as apricots, olive trees and various vegetables.

 

DHKEB. is the cultural-educational and development organization of the municipality of Velo that organizes complete social, environmental and cultural activities and programs. It has 5 departments:

1. Cultural department, which organizes cultural events and educational activities for the citizens of the municipality with the Youth and cultural centre o Velo.

2. Social department which supports and assist

A) program for elderly and disadvantage people

B). one kindergarten

3. Environmental department which deals with the environmental protection, information and activities

4. Sports department, which organizes sport clubs of football, basketball, mini soccer and tennis

5. Youth Information department for youngsters between 13 to 30 years old
